Its good for those who wants to have their posts indexed faster and those who make changes in posts frequently. Google search updates site or blog changes on alot of factors such as posting frequency, meta tags inviting robots to visit again after some hours or day(s) and also how popular a site or blog is. So its not just a single thing that controls how fast can you have your posts indexed by Google or Bing.
How this works?
Its basically a form of sitemap that you have to submit to Google and Bing or Yandex. This form of sitemap has all the new and updated posts even earlier than usual sitemap that we use in webmaster tools as shown below.
For Blogs:
https://blogname.blogspot.com/sitemap.xml
OR
For Site/Custom domain:
https://sitename.com/sitemap.xml
Above mentioned is the usual sitemap that is mostly used by almost all blogs and sites.
But to get your blog posts (new or updated) one's indexed faster you have to submit the following sitemap.
For Blogs:
https://blogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?orderby=UPDATED
OR
For Sites/Custom domains:
https://sitename.com/feeds/posts/default?orderby=UPDATED
NOTE: Do not remove the already submitted sitemap, keep both sitemaps in webmaster tools. The already submitted sitemap having suffix "Sitemap.xml" as mentioned above will allow search engine robots crawl old posts and this new sitemap will tell them that this site is updated or have a new post so you get indexed faster.
Also do not forget to add this new sitemap in your blog or site's robots.txt.
